Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), stated on Sunday that he did not ask his party members to be prepared for mid-term elections. According to reports, Pawar had asked his party legislators to pay more attention to their respective constituencies and prepare for the mid-term elections, predicting the fall of the newly formed government.

Last month, a majority of Sena MLAs, led by Eknath Shinde, defied the party's leadership and demanded that the Sena cut ties with the NCP and the Congress.
 
The party revolt led to the demise of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government. Shinde was sworn in as Chief Minister on June 30, while BJP's Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as deputy CM.
