Shiv Sena
Shiv Sena (Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena), roughly translated as the "Army of Lord Shiva (Balasaheb’s Sena)", is a regional political party in Maharashtra, officially recognized by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in February 2023 after the party split. The party has its primary base in Maharashtra and a strong influence in Konkan coastal regions. It follows the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray, focusing on Hindutva and Marathi Manoos pride.
Election Symbol of Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena:
The Election Symbol of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, as approved by the Election Commission of India, is the iconic “Bow and Arrow”, which was earlier used by the undivided Shiv Sena. The symbol is displayed on a saffron-coloured party flag, signifying the party’s Hindu nationalist ideology. The saffron color represents Hinduism and Marathi cultural pride.

The major leaders and executives of the party are:
- Eknath Shinde, Chief of Shiv Sena & Chief Minister of Maharashtra: Eknath Shinde is the chairperson of Shiv Sena and a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency in Thane, Maharashtra. He served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from June 2022 to December 2024. Eknath Shinde is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, alongside Ajit Pawar under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
- Bharatshet Gogawale, Chief Whip & MLA: Bharat Maruti Gogawale, popularly known as Bharatshet Gogawale, is a senior Indian political leader, Bharatshet Gogawale serves as the Cabinet Minister for Employment Guarantee Scheme, Horticulture, and Salt Pan Land Development in the Maharashtra government.
- Deepak Kesarkar, Party Spokesperson & Cabinet Minister: Deepak Kesarkar serves as the MLA for Sawantwadi constituency, Sindhudurg district, in the 14th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is the Cabinet Minister for School Education and Marathi Language in the Maharashtra government, affiliated with Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). Represents the party as the primary voice in the media.
- Gulabrao Patil, Cabinet Minister & Senior MLA: Gulabrao Patil serves as the Cabinet Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation in Maharashtra and is the MLA representing Jalgaon Rural constituency. He has been elected multiple times, demonstrating strong public support and consistent electoral performance. Influential leader from Jalgaon, known for organizational work in North Maharashtra.
- Abdul Sattar, Minister & Key Minority Leader: Abdul Sattar is the MLA for Sillod and a Cabinet Minister in the Maharashtra government under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, representing the Shiv Sena (SHS). He currently holds the Minority Development and Marketing portfolios and serves as Guardian Minister for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Hingoli districts. Plays an important role in minority outreach in Maharashtra.
- Sandipan Bhumre, Cabinet Minister: Senior MLA and loyal supporter of Eknath Shinde. Sandipanrao Bhumre serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) from Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency, Maharashtra, representing the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). He was a Cabinet Minister in the Maharashtra government.
- Uday Samant, Industries Minister & Senior Leader: Uday Ravindra Samant is a senior Indian political leader currently serving as a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Ratnagiri constituency in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. Handles key portfolios in the state government, close confidant of Shinde.
- Shambhuraj Desai, Minister of State (Home): Shambhuraj Desai serves as MLA from Patan (Satara) in the 14th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, representing Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). Desai has also served as Guardian Minister for Satara, Thane, and Washim districts, overseeing district-level development and administration.
- Pratap Sarnaik, Senior Leader & MLA: Pratap Sarnaik is a senior Shiv Sena (SHS) leader and the current Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Ovala-Majiwada, Thane district, Maharashtra12357. Sarnaik is also known as the founder of Sanskruti Yuva Pratishthan and chairman of Vihang Group.
- Ravindra Phatak, Senior Leader & MLC: Ravindra Phatak is a senior leader and former MLC from Thane, Maharashtra. He previously served as a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, representing the Thane Local Authorities constituency. His term as MLC concluded in June/July 2022.
