The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP – Ajit Pawar faction) is a regional political party in Maharashtra, officially recognized by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in February 2024 after a major split in the original NCP. The party’s primary base is in Maharashtra, with significant influence in Western Maharashtra, Konkan, and Marathwada regions. This faction was formed when Ajit Pawar, along with a majority of MLAs and MPs, broke away from Sharad Pawar citing leadership and developmental differences. The faction follows a development-oriented and pro-BJP stance, aligning itself with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Maharashtra, where Ajit Pawar serves as Deputy Chief Minister.
