The
Shiv Sena At the party's Swabhiman rally on Wednesday, President and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said he has not forgotten his father and party supremo late Bal Thackeray's promise that Aurangabad would be renamed, Sambhaji Nagar. At a well-attended rally, Thackeray said the city will be renamed and he will do it, in response to the BJP's recent Jan Akrosh rally in Aurangabad.
Thackeray, on the other hand, chastised the BJP-led government at the Centre for not granting permission to rename the Aurangabad airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. "A resolution was passed by the state legislature and forwarded to the Centre one and a half years ago. However, no decision has been made. I will not simply rename Aurangabad Sambhaji Nagar, but will transform the city in such a way that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj will be proud of it," he said.
The BJP has been pressuring Thackeray to rename Aurangabad after a promise made by the late Balasaheb Thackeray. However, the Shiv Sena, which leads a coalition government in the state with the support of the
Congress and the
NCP, is facing opposition from its coalition partners.
Thackeray slammed the BJP, saying, "Hindutva is in our every breath." He also challenged the BJP to recite Hanuman Chalisa in Kashmir, where migrant workers and Kashmiri Pandits have been targeted in recent weeks. "If you have the courage, go to Kashmir and recite Hanuman Chalisa," he advised.
Thackeray also stated that an open debate on what the Shiv Sena has done for Hindutva and what the BJP has done should take place in Mumbai. He also brought up the Nupur Sharma incident, claiming that the nation was humiliated as a result of a BJP spokesperson's statement. In Maharashtra, he claims the
BJP is raising concerns about loudspeakers and other issues.
