On Monday, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) questioned when an FIR will be filed against Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and a BJP politician, for allegedly using abusive language, similar to the one filed against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.

Nawab Malik, the Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister and National Spokesperson for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), also posted a video of Adityanath. "When will an FIR be filed against Yogi Ji for the same use of language that an FIR was filed against Sanjay Raut Ji?" Malik sent out a tweet.

In the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress are allies.
Malik also used the hashtag "one nation, two laws," implying that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were subject to distinct laws.

An FIR was filed against Raut on December 9 at Mandawali Police Station in Delhi, based on a complaint filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Deepti Rawat Bhardwaj. In her complaint, she claims Raut made "shocking statements" about Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) employees in an interview aired on a Marathi news station on December 9.
