NCP leader Sharad Pawar declares, "I am 82 and not seeking for PM or any other office"

Sharad Pawar, head of the NCP, has made a significant announcement: he will not run for Prime Minister at the age of 82 and will not hold any other office following the next general elections. Pawar's admission came at a time when certain party members were actively pushing for Pawar to become Prime Minister. "I won't be working for the government anymore. Am 82 years old. Lucky Morarji Desai. At age 82, he was appointed Prime Minister. I do not, however, wish to emulate Morarji," he said.

Pawar declared, "I will not assume authority at this time. Days after making it clear that he was not running for president and would not be the opposition candidate, Pawar made this admission.
 
Regarding the future of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which consists of the NCP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, Pawar stated that they were debating whether to run in the 2019 elections jointly or individually. "Our party is considering all of the possibilities, but no choice has been made. My personal opinion is that like-minded individuals and parties should unite if people want a viable alternative (against the BJP) in the nation, the speaker added.
