In order to combat the BJP together, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) would try to form an alliance with ruling allies Shiv Sena and Congress to contest upcoming civic and local body elections. The decision was reached at a conference called by NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and attended by party ministers, MPs, and senior leaders.

"At the meeting, it was decided to make efforts for an alliance among three parties to jointly contest the upcoming civic and local body elections," said state NCP Chief Jayant Patil. Ministers, lawmakers, MPs, and district leaders from the NCP will meet to explore how the party may form an alliance with the Shiv Sena and the Congress."

The NCP's move came on the same day that the Supreme Court ordered the State Election Commission to announce poll dates for 20 Municipal Corporations, 210 Nagar Parishads, 10 Nagar Panchayats, and 1930 Gram Panchayats. The NCP's decision to form a coalition is also critical, as three parties contested the by-election in Kolhapur and defeated the BJP.

In addition, the NCP discussed the current political environment, particularly in light of the Azaan-Hanuman Chalisa conflict. "Law and order have been maintained by the state government." Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister, and Dilip Wase-Patil, the Home Minister, had kept a careful eye on things, and their efforts paid off in terms of maintaining law and order. "Congratulations to the CM and HM," Patil said. In terms of the use of loudspeakers, Patil stated that they were used within the permissible limits set by the Supreme Court. Such decibel limitations, he said, will have to be adhered to in cultural programmes and festivals.
