BMC Election update: All eyes set on BMC elections 2022, as parties prep up
Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections to be held in 2022, all the parties have geared up. A recent decision taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for the Municipal Corporation stated that all Municipal Elections leaving the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will consist of 3 members, and will be a 3-ward system. On the other hand, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will have a ward system.

The most awaited Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are going to take place in February 2022 which was postponed for next year due to the second wave of the Covid 19 pandemic. As the elections approach the major parties Shiv Sena currently ruling the state and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), seem to be well prepped up.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections have caused major rifts between the two parties and are tarnishing the image of Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as no party leaves any stone unturned to slam each other for its presence. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are significant because it is the largest  Municipal Corporation in Asia.

So, this is what becomes the point of fight, allegation, counter-allegations, major rift, attack, and in the current scenario war of words. Every party wishes to keep the keys of power in the Municipal Corporation. Currently, the party strength in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for Shiv Sena is 97, for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- 83, for Congress-29, for Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-8, for Socialist Party-6, for Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)-1, for MIM1 and Abhase-1.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government consists of three parties Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had stated that they would contest the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections together but as soon as the Mumbai Congress presidency was under him, Bhai Jagtap chanted slogans of contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on its own.
It is estimated that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena would contest the elections together. Despite being together in an alliance, not a direct fight but a friendly fight is usually noticed in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition consisting of Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Shiv Sena has been controlling the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the last many years. Despite not having a very good hold on other elections in the state, the Shiv Sena has a very stronghold in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) which has remained unbeatable to date.
