Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena's President and Chief Minister, pushed party workers on Sunday to strive with zeal to strengthen the party's influence not just in Maharashtra but across the country, eventually assuming power in Delhi to realise party leader Balasaheb Thackeray's dream.
"Party workers should demonstrate the same determination and fighting spirit in all polls, not just Lok Sabha and assembly elections." Regardless of wins or losses, the Shiv Sainiks should provide equal attention to all elections in the state, including those for banks, local governments and civic bodies. In addition, the party, which is running candidates in Goa and Uttar Pradesh, will contest elections in more states in the future. In his virtual speech to the party workers on the occasion of Shiv Sena supremo's birth anniversary, he remarked, "One day Shiv Sena will be successful in other states as well and assume power in Delhi."
He further chastised the BJP for its "use and toss" approach, claiming that there is no NDA at the national level. "The Shiv Sena has not abandoned Hindutva. Leaving the BJP does not imply abandoning Hindu nationalism. He pointed out that the BJP's Hindutva is neo Hindutva, which is used to gain power.
Thackeray, who is recovering from a back injury, expressed disappointment with the Shiv Sainiks for not taking bank elections and local and civic body elections as seriously as partners the NCP and Congress did. As a result, he urged party members to follow in the footsteps of the NCP and Congress in contesting these elections, spreading the party's wings across the state.
"While the
Shiv Sena came in fourth place in the recent Nagar Panchayat elections, it has won a record number of seats in prior years." However, party members, including me, did not devote enough time to contesting these elections, which were fought by other parties (including NCP and Congress). No one took the elections seriously, with the exception of a few Shiv Sena leaders, while top politicians from the
NCP and Congress were at the forefront. All elections should be contested with full determination and preparedness to win from now on," he said.
Those who choose to engage in disloyalty should leave the party, according to Thackeray, while others should contest all elections with caution and caution. He chastised party members for not doing enough to strengthen institutions in the politically powerful cooperative sector, such as the NCP and
Congress. "Such institutions should not be developed by circumventing the regulations, but rather with a long-term goal in mind," he said.
