Uddhav Thackeray attacks BJP for conducting Jan Ashirwad Yatra
Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had organised a Jan Ashirwad Yatra (JAY) after which series of allegations and agitation came out. In a recent attack by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray has banged its opposition for leading the rally knowing the warnings of a possible third wave of Covid 19 and stated that such Yatras put people at risk. The health guidelines that have been laid down needs to be followed at any cost, he stated.

“Our government is not against any festival, but the guidelines that has been prescribed needs to be followed to fight against this pandemic. It has been directed by the Central government to all the state governments that they need to take all the necessary precautions, as the fear of spread may increase during festivals,” stated Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was addressing people at an event organised by the Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik, where an oxygen plant which was built by his foundations was dedicated to the service of people on the special occasion of the Dahi Handi festival.

The rift continues to spark up in the opposition, with the point of restrictions imposed by the state government on festivities in the state. As the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections date approaches, all parties gear up with all their preparations to attack and question their counterparts. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had arranged a protest demanding permitting for the celebrations of Dahi Handi.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) which is led by Raj Thackeray had organised an event of Dahi Handi, where the party leader and former MLA Bala Nandgaonkar broke the Handi. Another MNS leader stated that his party would surely celebrate the festival as directed by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. After which cases have been filed against the party workers for breaking the law and organising celebrations by the Mumbai Police.

“There was no objection on Jan Ashirwad Yatra but there is a problem with celebrating Dahi Handi festival, why?” stated the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief in a press conference. Further attacking the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena government he stated that the restrictions were only imposed on festivals, and all the other businesses related to his aids continue to function normally.  “Orders have been given to my workers to celebrate the Dahi Handi festival,” he declared.
