Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), roughly translated as the "Army for the Reconstruction of Maharashtra", is a regional political party approved by the Election Commission of India. Its primary base is in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik, and the Konkan belt. Though the party has tried to contest elections in other states, its influence remains largely restricted to Maharashtra. The party was founded in March 2006 by Raj Thackeray, after he split from the Shiv Sena, citing differences in leadership and vision.

The Election Symbol of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, as approved by the Election Commission of India, is a “Railway Engine”.
New Party Flag (2020): In January 2020, Raj Thackeray introduced a new saffron flag featuring the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji’s Rajmudra (royal seal) in Sanskrit. This significant update highlighted the party’s deep-rooted Maratha cultural pride.

He currently holds the position of the Founder and President of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and is considered a polarizing figure in Indian politics.
