This Year Dahi Handi celebrations are dominated by the Shinde uprising, the Shiv Sena-BJP Government, and the BMC Elections

The main topics of discussion at the Dahi Handi celebrations in Mumbai and Thane were the formation of the Shinde Fadnavis government, the impending BMC elections, and the fall of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government following an uprising headed by Eknath Shinde. During his travels, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recounted how he joined forces with the BJP to form what he called a Shiv Sena BJP government by removing 50 members, including 40 from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and 10 independents.

 

In the midst of applause from the crowd and shouts of encouragement, Shinde added, "We also broke the 50-layer handi one and a half months ago," in reference to the layers constructed by Govinda to break the Dahi Handi (referring to the coup staged by him with 40 Shiv Sena MLAs including himself and 10 independents). It takes skill to break the handi because it's a challenging task. We were able to shatter the 50-layer handi, nonetheless, thanks to your (your followers') blessings as well as those of Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe.

 

You shouldn't be concerned since there will be more levels of legislators. Shinde was relaxed and engaged with the Govindas despite the pending legal dispute and the Supreme Court hearing scheduled for the next week. On the other hand, DCM Devendra Fadnavis asserted after the establishment of the new administration that there is a respite for all sections at Jambhori Maidan, which is a portion of Yuva Sena Aaditya Thackeray's Worli assembly seat.

 

The atmosphere was positive as Fadnavis and Mumbai Unit Chairman Ashish Shelar reiterated their determination to defeat the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena in the BMC elections. Following the Shinde-led uprising, the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena intensified its efforts to improve party organisation and maintain control of the BMC. On the other hand, the BJP has stepped up electoral preparations along with the Shinde camp in order to realise its Mission in 2022, which is to beat Shiv Sena and win the Mayoral election.

 

"Now we will break the cycle of corruption and handi full of scams and corruption," declared Fadnavis after he had torn off the symbolic handi. "We will perform the work of bringing development to the last person through the cycle of development in Mumbai and the rest of Maharashtra." Without specifically mentioning them, he made fun of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government and the Shiv Sena.

 

The symbolic handi was broken by Fadnavis, who then declared, "Now we will break the cycle of corruption and handi full of scams and corruption and we will perform the work of bringing development to the last person through the cycle of development in Mumbai and the rest of Maharashtra." He made fun of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government and the Shiv Sena without specifically mentioning them.
