Mumbai: The civic body on Sunday sought to end allegations that the Covid-19 cases and deaths in the city were hidden for glory. BMC said in a statement that it maintains complete transparency in data reporting. The BJP, which did not leave a single stone aimed at the BMC-led Shiv Sena, accused the civic body of hiding daily numbers. But BMC said the numbers were correct, according to Covid-19 tests conducted so far.
Guidelines from the World Health Organization and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) report the number of deaths from covid-19 accidents and deaths from other causes. Since January this year, the city's mortality rate has dropped to less than one percent, with the number of daily cases in the city declining. Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has accused Mumbai of suppressing Covid-19 figures.
BJP MLA Amit Satam claimed that the death toll in the city was very high. Many of the city’s numbers on social media platforms seem untrue.BMC noted that the number of tests increased when the second wave hit, so the number of Covid-19 cases is not hidden from citizens.
