A recent attack from the Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ashish Shelar against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and
Shiv Sena over the issue of the pothole in streets in the city of Mumbai has once again sparked rows of conflict between the two rivalries. The MLA slammed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stating that “a big scam is taking place on the amount which is to be spent on filling the potholes.”
While addressing a press conference,
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ashish Shelar stated that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) web portal shows that in total there are only 927 potholes on 2,000 km long roads in Mumbai. “IF this is the case, then it is really sad to hear that the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) spends a total of 48 crores to fill those 927 potholes,” he further added.
Further, he also questioned the total amount which is being spent on filling the potholes on the city roads. “Something is going on, it points out towards a big scam, the investigation is going on and soon the truth will come out,” stated Shelar.
Further slamming the city’s Mayor and the Shiv Sena party, Shelar asked if she knows about the geographical facts about the city of Mumbai.
“Did she see the entire map of the city for the developmental purpose?” he questioned. Further, the targeted Health Minister Rajesh Tope over the failure of taking examinations to fill vacancies in the Health Department as the exams which were supposed to be taken on Saturday and Sunday were put off at the last minute soon after a private firm which was assigned to take the exams failed to do so.
Stating that the Health Minister’s apology was not enough in a way to end the matter and further asked for the Chief Minister’s involvement in the Health Department. These allegations play a very important role, as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections approach, as a practice of gearing up these allegations will be remembered by the voters while voting.
