The Maharashtra State Wrestling Association (MSWA) is required by the Bombay High Court to challenge Sharad Pawar's alleged "sudden dissolution" of the MSWA's elected committee before the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). The MSWA committee was presided over by NCP supremo Sharad Pawar for more than 40 years before WFI disbanded it on July 4, 2022.

SV Gangapurwala and Madhav Jamdar, sitting as a divisional bench, ordered the MSWA to file its appeal within 20 days and the WFI president to provide a decision on it quickly—within 30 days of the appeal's submission. The court also noted the remark made by WFI's attorney that an earlier promise not to announce the new election results for the 24 executive committee slots has been maintained and will continue so for 10 days following the appeal's decision.

A petition against the WFI for dissolving its committee and a contempt petition were both being heard by the HC. The petition was submitted by MSWA last month, claiming that the WFI's national executive committee, which is led by BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, chose to dismiss MSWA's committee because it had failed to hold certain tournaments in a meeting held on June 30. It asserted that the choice was random.

It also quoted news articles that stated Ramdas Tadas, a BJP MP from Wardha, would take over administration of the state agency.
The current committee's five-year appointment will come to an end in 2023. The state committee was just made aware of its dissolution and the appointment of an ad hoc committee to oversee the association's operations.
