Speculations being made of BJP-MNS coalition after Chandrakant Patil meets Raj Thackeray, ahead of BMC 2022 polls
A recent meeting of Maharashtra Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Chandrakant Patil with Maharashtra Navnirmana Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray in Mumbai on Friday has dumbfounded everyone as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) approach.

The meeting which was scheduled on Friday took place at the resident of Raj Thackeray with some leaders of senior Maharashtra Navnirmana Sena (MNS). After the meeting held between the two leaders’ speculations are being made of a possible MNS-BJP alliance for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections.

The elections of the country's richest corporation are scheduled to be held in February next year. The ongoing tenure of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) ruled by Shiv Sena will end on March 7 next year.

The tenure of 17 other corporations will end besides Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) which includes, Thane, Pune, Nashik, and Nagpur, and elections will be taken soon.
On July 18 when the chief of the BJP Patil met Raj Thackeray, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis denied the possibility of an alliance with MNS.

Raj Thackeray who is the cousin brother of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray heads an alliance that includes the NCP and Congress. After the 2019 Assembly polls result the Shiv Sena left the alliance of the BJP-Shiv Sena and then joined hands with the NCP and Congress. The major opposition in the state of Maharashtra is BJP for the Shiv Sena government.

"The ideology Raj Thackeray has, is not acceptable in the party so there is no possibility of a BJP-MNS coalition, but as it is important to meet each other so I will be meeting him," stated Patil. Out of the 227 seats, BJP and Shiv Sena together won 179 seats in the 2017 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Elections.
