The Shiv Sena president stated on Tuesday that he has embraced the challenge and that the party will not only thwart the BJP's aim but also maintain its dominance in BMC after the elections, a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructed the BJP workers to put Uddhav Thackeray in his place.

Uddhav assailed Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led camp during the meeting with the party's office-bearers, saying "No matter how much someone bids, loyalty cannot be purchased. A few loyalists are always preferable than traitors." He was replying to Shah's assertion that the BJP should control Mumbai politics and dethrone the Shiv Sena, which the latter claimed had abandoned and undermined the party.

Arvind Sawant, a party MP, and Bhaskar Jadhav, a party legislator, were congratulated by Thackeray for being appointed Shiv Sena Neta (leader). "It is a challenging time. They (the BJP) have started a scheme to destroy the Shiv Sena. It's not a part of my private property. With a few loyalists instead of corrupt individuals, we shall prevail "Uddhav stated.

Following Shah's declaration that he will win 150 seats in the BMC, Uddhav urged the party officeholders to further enhance the party organization and increase outreach to the general public. "The position of Chief Minister was also not mine. I would have resigned right away if they (the dissident MLAs) had desired the CM's position. Additionally, I might have kept 30 to 40 MLAs under scrutiny (referring to Shinde and other legislators hopping from Mumbai to Surat to Gawhatty and Goa before coming to the city).

I could have taken them to West Bengal and the Kali Mata temple there because I know Mamata Bannerjee well. They would have been taken to Rajasthan as well by me. That was not in me. I, therefore, advised them that the door was open if they wanted to remain loyal to the party or leave it "Uddhav stated. He stated that ardent Shiv Sainiks would fight beside him against the BJP. Uddhav said that since he is no longer the Chief Minister, he must speak at the traditional Dussehra gathering at Shivaji Park without any limits.
