Shiv Sena seems to have begun its campaign for BMC elections scheduled in 2022, post the switch of three BJP leaders into Shiv Sena. Sena seems to be trying ways to upheaval BJPs position.

A Sena member said that the party had composed a team of leaders to breach leaders from BJP. Reportedly leaders from areas like Mulund, Ghatkopar, Dahisar, Kandivali and Colaba among others can be seen joining the Sena. The leaders joining Sena are taking into consideration the 2024 assembly elections for a spot, by offering their support to Sena in the 2022 BMC elections.

The former BJP leaders who have already joined Sena include, former BJP MLA Hemenra Mehta, who represented BJP in the Borivali assembly constituency for three successive terms from 1990-99; Former Mumbai BJP vice president Krishna Hegde and Sameer Desai former BJP secretary who is also nephew to late Congress leader Gurudas Kamat.
