Shiv Sena on Tuesday agreed to field hard-core Shiv Sainik Sanjay Pawar, the district leader of Kolhapur, for the second Rajya Sabha seat. This is an attempt to checkmate Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje, who is also from Kolhapur and turned down Shiv Sena's invitation to join the party in order to secure the ticket. Sambhajiraje has decided to run as an independent candidate. Sanjay Pawar, the Shiv Sena's contender for the sixth Rajya Sabha seat, was announced by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. He also stated that an official announcement would be made soon.

The party has already resolved to nominate Raut for the fourth time in a row for the RS election. Pawar will run for the second seat because Shiv Sena legislators voted for Raut. Furthermore, Shiv Sena allies NCP and Congress have already stated that they will support the nominee named by Sena. 'The Shiv Sena will contest two Rajya Sabha seats and win both,' said Raut.

Raut mocked Sambhajiraje, who was insisting on Maha Vikas Aghadi's support for his candidacy, stating, "Rulers are kings because of warriors." He stated that the chapter for the sixth RS seat has concluded. ‘’ We revere Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje, his family, and the crown, which is why we urged him to join the Shiv Sena and run as the party's sixth candidate in the elections." "E is required to attend Rajya Sabha and wishes to run as an Independent. He requires 42 votes. Anyone with 42 votes can win the Rajya Sabha elections "Raut continued.
