Shiv Sena marks golden jubilee: ‘Ally’ BJP not invited to celebrations

In an apparent snub to BJP ahead of the 2017 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election, Shiv Sena has not invited its long time ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its 50th anniversary celebrations on Sunday.
“We have not invited the BJP because it is an internal celebration of our party which is aimed at gearing up our party workers,” Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande told PTI. Reacting to the development, BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said, “It is their internal programme thus their choice on who has to be invited. We only wish them good luck.”
The Sena has planned a mega event at Goregaon NSE on June 19 to showcase its 50 years of political journey.
