Shiv Sena-BJP clash after “offensive” comment over Ram Mandir Land deal
Ahead of the civic body elections to be held in 2022, the conflict between BJP and the Sena seems to be intensifying. A violent confrontation broke out between the members of both BJP and Sena in Dadar. The incident took place on Wednesday following BJP’s youth wing’s protest against objectionable comment on the Ayodhya Land deal controversy, in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana.

In the aftermath of the incident, BJP accused Sena members of assaulting one of their female members in front of the police. The police were ultimately seen using force to disseminate the supporters. All hell broke loose after the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha set on a protest march towards the Sena’s headquarters in Dadar, over a Saamana editorial that called for a probe on the dubious land procuring deal by the Ram Mandir trust in Ayodhya. However, the trust has come forward and defuted the allegations.

Various BJP leaders arrived at the local police station and demanded action against members of the opposite party. On other hand, Shelar, former Maharashtra minister, in a statement said, ‘If the Shiv Sena workers attack again, we will retaliate’. Taking a dig at the Sena-Congress alliance, Shelar said that Sena is simply defaming Lord Rama for its political interests and that Sonia and Vadra have now become Sena’s deities.

Sada Sarvankar, MLA of Sena stated that they were previously informed that the BJP workers are coming in to protest but later it was learned that they were instead coming in to destroy the Sena Bhavan. “Hence we had to step in and stop them before they could reach anywhere near to it” he added. On the other hand, Akshada Tendulkar, a BJP supporter, claimed that she was attacked by some of the members of the Sena while she was getting inside an auto. Both the parties were once known for their decade-long alliance until they called it off after the 2019 Assembly polls.
