Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP, continued to criticize the BJP-led administration at the Centre for using central probe agencies and the Income Tax Department against opponents, particularly Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders in Maharashtra, on Sunday. Days after Income Tax raids on Shiv Sena Corporator and BMC Standing Committee Chairman Yashwant Jadhav, Raut mocked that income and tax exist only in Maharashtra and not in
BJP-ruled states.
He said that the raids were carried out in anticipation of the
BMC elections. "I believe that Income and Tax exist solely in Maharashtra and that Income and Tax do not exist in BJP-ruled states. Because the BMC elections are approaching, central agencies will only be working in Maharashtra and West Bengal, with no work in the rest of India.
Everything is fine over there, "Raut remarked. "We are seeing all of this," he continued, "and heaven is also watching, so let them do whatever they want." On Friday, the Income Tax Department searched Jadhav's home in connection with tax evasion allegations. The BMC polling schedule has not yet been released.
In a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, Raut said that the ED and other inquiry agency officers had been reduced to political puppets, admitting that they had been "ordered by their bosses to frame me." He had also stated that he will reveal how some ED officials were reportedly conducting a BJP-affiliated 'criminal ring.'
During the polling for the fifth phase of the assembly elections, Raut reaffirmed that there will be a change in Uttar Pradesh. He believes that the support for Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, demonstrates that change is unavoidable. "Aaditya Thackeray had visited Uttar Pradesh. In UP, I believe there will be a shift. People have made up their minds on what they want to do. There was a head-to-head battle in the atmosphere we witnessed. The difference can be seen in the support for Akhilesh Yadav" Raut said.
Aaditya, who spoke at rallies for
Shiv Sena candidates in UP last week, slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led administration, calling it a "jumla sarkar," and adding that the state must choose a new course. He further stated that the residents of this area are looking for a change and that they are backing the Shiv Sena this time.
