NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar becomes President of MMGS
On Sunday, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief and Supremo Sharad Pawar were made the President of Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya (MMGS), which is a 123-year-old library and the largest in the city of Mumbai by the majority of people. In the competition of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Supremo Sharad Pawar was Dhananjay Shinde from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who the leader defeated with a total of 27 votes. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar fought 29 votes as to 2 votes received by his opponent Dhananjay from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The total number of people who were eligible for voting were at 34 however only 31 people turned up for voting. With the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, all the panel of seven vice presidents too won the election. Post the results the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dhananjay Shinde alleged the elections to be a fraud and stated that further investigation should be done with these results.

“There are some rules and regulations of the Granthalaya’s, they just permitted 34 members to vote which is against the constitution. All 6000 members should have been allowed to exercise their franchise. This will not be heard quietly we will move to the court in the coming week so that the elections be declared as null and void,” stated Dhananjay Shinde from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Responding to this allegation, the elected vice president stated that the election process was led out systematically following all required procedures, our opponents asked for the Charity Commissioner to not take out these elections but their request was not considered.

The Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya (MMGS) has been managed by the Sharad Pawar led panel from 1982, it has been more than four decades that such type of election has taken place however earlier officer bearers were selected based on mutual consent.
