The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), roughly translated as the "Common Man’s Party", is a national political party approved by the Election Commission of India. It was founded on 26 November 2012 by Arvind Kejriwal and his associates during the India Against Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare. The party’s mass base is primarily in Delhi and Punjab, where it has formed elected governments, while it is gradually expanding to Gujarat, Goa, Haryana, Maharashtra, and other states. The party’s ideology focuses on anti-corruption, transparency, education, healthcare, and pro-people governance.
 
 
 
Election Symbol of Aam Aadmi Party:
The Election Symbol of the Aam Aadmi Party, as approved by the Election Commission of India, is a “Broom”. The broom symbolizes cleanliness in politics and eradication of corruption, which was the founding principle of the party. The party flag is white with a blue-colored broom in the center, signifying honesty, transparency, and simplicity in governance.

  • Arvind Kejriwal, National Convener and Chief Minister of Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal is currently the National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). However, he is not the Chief Minister of Delhi as of July 25, 2025. He resigned as the Chief Minister on September 17, 2024, after being released on bail in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. He stated he would only return to the post if he received a public mandate.

  • Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab & Senior Leader: Bhagwant Singh Mann is a prominent Indian politician currently serving as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab, assuming office in March 2022. He is a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and currently serves as the Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He was also the State Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, Punjab from 2019 to late 2024, when he was replaced by Aman Arora.
