Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena MP and main spokesperson, said on Thursday that Maharashtra will continue to stand tall in front of central agencies such as the ED and the NCB. As the Enforcement Directorate increased its pressure on Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and reminded him that the veteran Parliamentarian and editor was being treated unfairly.

Pawar and NCP Lok Sabha member P P Mohammad Faizal met with Modi at the Prime Minister's Office in Parliament, where they discussed difficulties in Pawar's constituency of Lakshadweep. Pawar claimed he raised concerns about central agencies targeting Raut and Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari's alleged inaction on the Maharashtra government's proposal for nominations to the state Legislative Council.

"What were the grounds for Sanjay Raut's arrest? This is a form of injustice. What was the provoking event? It is not necessary to take action against him just because he makes some statements and criticisms. In a money-laundering inquiry linked to certain land deals, the Enforcement Directorate had attached assets worth more than Rs 11.15 crore of Raut's wife and two of his accomplices on Tuesday.
