Maharashtra Government Orders High-Level Investigation on Nana Patole Phone-Tapping Allegations
On Tuesday the Maharashtra Government instructed a high-level investigation into the claim made by Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole about his phone being tapped in the course of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government. Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil replying to the case raised by Patole in the Legislative Assembly said, “Patole spoke about his phone being tapped in 2016-17. He also mentioned that with his phone, other phones too were put on surveillance. This is a very severe issue. I declare that a high-level investigation will be taking place and severe action will be taken against those responsible for this serious issue.”

Making them understand the further steps the minister in a statement said that the state intelligence commissioner will have to provide the name, number, and reasons for the surveillance while asking for permission from the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home department. “My name wasn’t used but a Muslim name. Were they playing politics in the name of religion by creating dispute between Hindus and Muslims?” there are also more in the list whose phones were tapped.,” stated Patole.

In the meantime, the leader of NCP and Irrigation Minister in a statement said, “it can be seen that the opposition leaders are trying to frighten the MVA leaders of an inquiry by central agencies. “Now the main focus should be protecting the members to avoid any such occurrence in near future. The home minister should inform them about this to the house.
