Sanjay Raut, a
Shiv Sena-UBT MP, launched yet another scathing attack on the Eknath Shinde administration in Maharashtra on Saturday, saying that it is "on a ventilator" and won't even make it to February. In response to the Supreme Court's decision, 16 Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena (BSS) legislators will lose their seats, and Raut predicted that the government will fall since it was illegitimate and unconstitutional.
"There will shortly be a change... They are merely delaying their inevitable demise. In reference to the recent wave of Shiv Sena-UBT defections to the Shinde side, Raut said, "Entire Maharashtra is with the Shiv Sena-UBT which is like a gigantic tree and only the junk has gone over to the BSS." The lead spokeswoman for Sena-UBT attacked Shinde's "puppet regime," claiming that while daily corruption allegations against different ministers are coming to light, the administration remains unaffected and is "like a thick-skinned rhinoceros."
"In the past, ministers or the CM would quit right away if there were any corruption allegations against them or if they were subject to judicial restrictions, as A.R. Antulay or Shvajirao Patil-Nilangekar had done. They are standing their ground like buffaloes in the water right now, Raut claimed, even though six ministers are the subject of graft prosecutions. He responded by warning them against making threats similar to those made by Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane and BSS Minister Deepak Kesarkar, who claimed that Raut is preparing to return to prison.
Don't admonish us. The opposition parties are the targets of abuse by the Central Investigation Agencies. Raut cautioned, "Just because you are in government doesn't mean you are the law. Rane described himself as a "helpless man" who has switched parties, and claimed that although he is currently using harsh words to disparage Sena-UBT President Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aditya Thackeray, and others, "you cannot harm us."
In response, Raut warned the
BJP leader not to pressurise him into speaking out, saying that if he ever revealed Rane's dealings, "then he (Rane) will go to jail for 50 years." I believe Rane will shortly stop serving as a minister... His performance is a complete failure, and he is a terrified ('darrpok') individual, which is why he is raising such a fuss. After he left the party (Shiv Sena, in 2005), I never encountered him, Raut remarked dismissively.
