The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has two representatives in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly, which serves as the electoral college for the Rajya Sabha elections, which are scheduled for June 10. After more than two decades, the state will see a contest in the Rajya Sabha elections, with seven candidates vying for six seats. The Shiv Sena has nominated two candidates, its MVA allies the NCP and Congress have nominated one each, and the opposition BJP has nominated three.

The BJP has enough votes to win two seats, while the Sena, NCP, and Congress can each easily win one. The AIMIM met in Nanded on Monday, but no decision on whether to support the MVA or the BJP was reached. Owaisi stated on Tuesday, "No one from the MVA has contacted us or our Maharashtra MLAs. They should contact us if they require our assistance. It's fine if they don't want our help. We're talking to our legislators. We will decide within the next day or two."

However, Imtiaz Jaleel, an AIMIM MP from Aurangabad, told PTI that they have some issues with the constituencies held by their party in the state. "We will raise those concerns with the government as well. If the MVA wants to defeat the BJP, the ruling coalition should openly seek AIMIM support "Jaleel stated. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MLC Ambadas Danve stated that MVA leaders will decide on Owaisi's proposal (put forth through the media). "Speaking to the media will yield no results. The AIMIM should speak directly with senior MVA leaders "he said.
