NCP leader Eknath Khadse stated on Friday that if a few BJP politicians had been sentenced to prison for alleged wrongdoings, the current political scenario in Maharashtra would not have developed. Khadse, a former BJP politician, stated that the state government should act in accordance with the law and based on facts.

In the presence of Nationalist Congress Party chairman Sharad Pawar, the former State Minister was speaking at an event in Jalgaon. "I had repeatedly requested that Walse-Patil saheb (Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil) teach them (BJP leaders) a lesson. Hundreds of cases have been assigned to them. If two or four (BJP leaders) had been imprisoned, this situation would not have developed "Khadse explained.

He did not elaborate on what he meant by "this circumstance," but it appears that he was alluding to the action taken by central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against leaders of the state's ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

"Act on what you know to be true. No one should be harassed. Don't become involved in hate politics. However, make them pay for what they've done. This is the will of the people "Khadse went on to say more. He was also taken aback by central agencies conducting "hundreds of searches" on the homes of another NCP politician and former State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, who was arrested in a corruption case. Khadse, who is being investigated by the ED in connection with a land deal in Pune, also accused his old party of defaming the MVA administration, which is made up of the Shiv Sena, the NCP, and the Congress, for no reason.
