The Shiv Sena threw gasoline to the fire by arguing that the home department should have been with the Chief Minister, amid the BJP's attempt to show rifts among the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi partners. Furthermore, press reports that the NCP was softening its stance toward the
BJP and that Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil was not taking sufficient action against BJP leaders created controversy among the ruling coalition partners.
Before the BJP capitalised on the situation, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who met with Walse-Patil on Friday afternoon, issued an explanation, claiming that the press reports were false and misleading. "I have full faith in my cabinet colleagues, and they are working very effectively," the Chief Minister's Office said before the meeting ended, quoting Thackeray. Such reports are unfounded and deceptive." The CM also made it quite clear that there was no plan to divest Walse-Patil of the home department or hand it over to the
Shiv Sena.
Thackeray was said to be dissatisfied with Walse Patil’s -response in the Assembly to former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' claim that the state's Shiv Sena-NCP-
Congress coalition was colluding to frame BJP politicians in fake cases. The matter is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), according to Walse-Patil. In last week's cabinet meeting, Thackeray reportedly conveyed his concern with the situation.
When asked about Raut's remarks, Walse-Patil replied that Raut was correct. "If there are any weaknesses in the department, we will endeavour to solve them," he continued. Meanwhile, in the evening, CM, Wasle-Patil, and Raut met to discuss the home department's plan for pursuing cases effectively. The BJP, according to Raut, is spreading rumours about the CM's dissatisfaction with Walse-Patil.
When asked about reports that certain coalition politicians believe the Maharashtra Home Department is not responding appropriately to the BJP when central authorities target MVA leaders, the minister stated that this is not the case. "We must manage the government according to the rules and the law." As I have stated, the Home Minister does not issue orders in every situation. DG (Director General of Police), CP (Commissioner of Police), and other high officials make several judgments," Walse-Patil stated.
