Devendra Fadnavis will campaign in several areas of the state alongside CM Eknath Shinde for BMC and other civic elections

Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, announced on Wednesday that he and the Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, will travel to several areas of the state together before the civic elections. Before the upcoming elections for 25 Zilla Parishads and 27 Municipal Corporations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Fadnavis made the remarks to reporters in Nagpur. 

 

While the polling timetable has not yet been made public, their tenure has already ended. On June 30 of this year, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray was overthrown by a rebellion led by Shinde, which resulted in the formation of the Shinde-BJP partnership. Fadnavis responded, "We will tour the state jointly in some parts and individually in other others," when asked how and when he will do a tour of the state with the Chief Minister. When asked about the dates of the BMC and other local elections, he responded that a court matter pertaining to them was still pending.

 

The State Election Commission would be able to create an election schedule after the court renders its decision, the BJP leader added. When asked about the assertion that the state administration was engaging in wasteful spending, Shiv Sena leader and former Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray remarked, "The statement does not warrant a reaction."
