Devendra Fadnavis, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reiterated his demand for Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik's resignation on Wednesday, saying, Nawab Malik, the leader of the National Congress Party and a State Minister, is now being held in judicial detention in connection with the Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case.

"This isn't right. We are requesting that he be removed from the cabinet by the Speaker of the Assembly "Fadnavis, who is also the Maharashtra Assembly's leader of the Opposition, said. During the Maharashtra Assembly's ongoing Budget session, Fadnavis pressed for Malik's dismissal, despite BJP MLAs screaming anti-state government shouts. As the BJP MLAs continued to protest in the Assembly, the House was postponed for 30 minutes.

Malik arrived at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai on Monday after a Special PMLA court sentenced him to 14 days in judicial detention in connection with the Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case until March 21. The ED raided the home of Dawood Ibrahim's sister, Haseena Parkar, in Mumbai earlier this month in connection with the money-laundering investigation.
