Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the
Shiv Sena, and Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, got into a verbal altercation on Sunday, one day after the Election Commission decided to freeze the use of the Shiv Sena name and the bow and arrow symbol. Uddhav launched a vicious attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his interactions with district chiefs and top leaders, alleging that the PM is now worthless due to the demonetisation. Balasaheb Thackeray, who is still a valuable asset, is therefore required by the Shinde camp and the BJP, he continued.
"I fought with the
BJP, I fought with the people of the family," Uddhav continued. By fighting this dispute, I helped his party win 63 legislative seats. Uddhav stated in reference to the party MPs' defection that they had informed him they would have to use Modi's name in the upcoming general elections. He lashed out at the dissident MPs and legislators who have since joined the Shinde camp, asking, "So my question to them is that after breaking away from us, why does their organisation require the name of Balasaheb?"
In order to revive the party, Uddhav urged the Sainiks and party officer bearers to exercise restraint. The PM is a currency that works and will continue to work, Fadnavis refuted Uddhav's criticism of Modi. Fadnavis responded to the EC's decision by saying, "Uddhav has forgotten that post-demonetization, all elections were won using the Modi currency. His 56 lawmakers and 18 MPs were chosen on Modi's behalf to serve in the Lok Sabha. Although we honour Balasaheb, the Modi currency is effective and will remain so.
The interim ruling issued by the EC, according to Fadnavis, was not unexpected because the EC has previously issued similar orders before making final judgments. I anticipate that the Eknath Shinde viewpoint will be supported when the final verdict is made, he continued. "I believe CM Shinde will succeed when the ECI makes the final verdict on the claims made by Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on ownership over the Shiv Sena name and symbol," said Fadnavis.
