The Leader of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis slammed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday, saying Shiv Sena's Hindutva is only on paper and does not go beyond speeches, a day after Thackeray claimed Shiv Sena wasted 25 years due to its alliance with BJP and BJP's opportunistic Hindutva was only for power. Fadnavis questioned whether the CM is challenging his own father's wisdom in maintaining the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition together, recalling that Balasaheb Thackeray was the leader of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance until 2012.

A Ram temple is being erected in Ayodhya, according to Fadnavis, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's supervision. The Kashi Vishwanath temple corridor was also constructed by Modi. He stated, however, that the Shiv Sena, which leads Maharashtra's Maha Vikas Aghadi administration, was unable to rename Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad as Dharashiv. "However, during the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, Allahabad was renamed Prayagraj, whereas the Shiv Sena is repeating only promises that have yet to be fulfilled," he pointed out.

"Who among the Shiv Sena's members took part in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement? In the movement, we were the ones who took gunshots and lathis. Your Hindutva (Shiv Sena) is only on paper, "Fadnavis stated. He further chastised the Shiv Sena for allowing the coalition with Congress while its leaders refused to acknowledge the late Balasaheb Thackeray's status. "Request that Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi each tweet about Balasaheb Thackeray. This is a state of powerlessness. You still sit with them for the sake of power, even when you garland their images and they feel humiliated to tweet on Balasaheb Thackeray's birth anniversary "he stated.

"In the 1993 elections, it fielded 180 candidates in UP when your wave was dominant," Fadnavis reminded Shiv Sena. 179 of them were unable to keep their deposits. They fielded 24 candidates in 1996, 23 of them forfeited their deposits. In 2002, 49 candidates were put up, and they all lost their deposits. So you went against the polls, yet the public rejected you. People were aware that karsevaks and RSS members were involved in the Ram Janmabhoomi campaign."
