Congress Leaders Reiterated to Compete 2022 Mumbai Civic Polls Individually
Again, it was stated by the Congress leaders from Mumbai on Monday asking to contest the Mumbai civic elections independently next year. As the Congress party is a part of the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Government in Maharashtra with the NCP.  A meeting was arranged by the AICC General Secretary in charge of Maharashtra HK Patil on Monday to talk over the  preparation for the elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) which is controlled by the Shiv Sena with Former Ministers, Ex-Chief Ministers, and leaders who competed the 2019 Assembly polls on the Congress ticket.

It was stated by a senior Congress leader that many party leaders contested the Lok Sabha election last year and still they did not attend the meeting. "The AICC General Secretary HK Patil heard every leader saying that the congress should compete individually as it is a local body election and the workers need to be accommodated. A request was made by him to everyone to work together and to make sure the party gets the maximum number of votes”.

Further, the senior Congress leaders added that discussions were made by Patil with office-bearers on how to make Congress strong in the Konkan region from Palghar to Sindhudurg, which is the familiar area of BJP MP and Union Minister Narayan Rane. The elections which are to come are 27 Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samities.

In the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, which were conducted in the year 2017, huge steps were taken by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by giving tough competition to the Sena which was scraped through to hold on to the civic body.
