Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, presented his annual budget for 2022-23 on Friday, elicited varied comments.  The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi partners, which include the Shiv Sena, the National Congress Party, and the Congress, said that the budget will boost development, while the opposition argued that it had neglected farmers and Dalits.

The implementation of Panchasutri, according to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who was present for 1 hour and 10 minutes during Pawar's presentation of the budget, will help the state become a $1 trillion economy. "The government has given industry, agriculture, health, transportation and human resources a much-needed boost." "The budget also prioritizes safeguarding the interests of society's weaker segments," he added.

"This budget is against Farmers, Dalits and will not give anything to the common man," said Devendra Fadnavis, the Leader of the Opposition. "We were expecting the state government to give relief to people by decreasing VAT on petrol and diesel, like the Central government and other states, but nothing has been done," he added.

Jayant Patil, the state NCP Chairman and Water Resources Minister, who formerly served in the Finance Ministry, said that Rs 10,111 crore has been set aside to maintain Maharashtra's leadership in luring investments and its investor-friendly position.
The budget has set a goal of providing energy to 60,000 agricultural pumps in 2022-23, according to Energy Minister Nitin Raut.

From the budgetary allotment, five projects would be completed at an outlay of Rs 11,530 crore to reinforce the Mumbai Transmission network," he added. Pravin Darekar, the head of the opposition, argued that the budget does not include provisions to bring much-needed relief to the average man. Former Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Ashok Chavan (Congress) stated that the budget will help the state develop further.
