BMC paused Indian Wedding Expo after FRTWA’s Complaint over Covid-19 curbs
After many complaints filed by the Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association (FRTWA), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday paused an Indian Wedding expo, which was arranged by a city five-star hotel in Juhu. Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association questioned that if on weekends non-essential shops are restricted to not open, how come such exhibitions were allowed in star hotels.

“Exhibition taking place at JW Marriott was paused as was arranged without any prior permission. There is no permission for any events on Weekends,” stated Assistant Municipal Commissioner of BMC’s West Ward, Vishwas Mote. The president of FRTWA Viren Shah in a statement said that he already has sent an email to the authorities about it.

“Maharashtra comes under the level 3 restrictions in which non-essential shops are allowed to be kept open till 4 pm on weekdays, so this activity was a total infringement of break chain order of the Maharashtra Government. There is a need for a team which can be positioned at different places at the time of festivals,” added Shah.

The BMC in its reply tweeted to FRTWA stated: “The location is scrutinized by our team and paused straight away and action has been taken against the organizers and hotel management.” With the cases rising in the state, Mumbai city reported 548 new Covid-19 cases, with 705 recoveries and 24 deaths. The present cases touched up at 8,114. With the inadequacy of vaccines, the drive will not be held at TMC centres in Thane. In addition, leading to the monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis stated that there is no rivalry between BJP and Shiv Sena, but just differences of opinions.
