The Union Home Minister Amit Shah's venomous criticism of the party's President Uddhav Thackeray and the Shiv Sena's assertion that it will win 150 seats in the
next BMC elections have drawn a strong response from the latter party. People can see who is threatening whom, handing boxes to whom, and robbing whom, according to
Shiv Sena Deputy leader and former mayor Kishori Pednekar. Is Amit Shah's current situation similar to Ghajini? Why did he only now reveal that the coalition between the BJP and the Shiv Sena lost two seats after two and a half years?
Without mentioning the
BJP specifically, Pednekar attacked the estranged ally, claiming that everyone was aware of its plans to destroy local and regional parties. "The Shiv Sena has already claimed that it will win 150 seats in the BMC elections. Let them a copy (Shiv Sena) if they (BJP) have announced Mission 150 seats, she added.
Shiv Sena will win the mayor's race, according to Pednekar, who dismissed the BJP's claim of victory. Shiv Sena would then continue to rule the BMC. On the other hand, Ambadas Danve, the head of the opposition in the state council, criticised Shah and asserted that the BJP was devaluing Mumbai, India's financial and commercial powerhouse, in favour of Ahmedabad. “Amit Shah has done his best to show immense love to Mumbai. There has been an effort to downplay Mumbai's and the Marathi Manoos' significance. Many offices in Mumbai should have been moved to Delhi, which would have made sense, but they were instead moved to Ahmedabad.
Danve made fun of Shah and the BJP, asking why they needed the BMC when they controlled the entire nation. "BJP is not strong enough in Mumbai." After realising that convening meetings would accomplish little, the BJP orchestrated a rift in the Shiv Sena by recruiting 40 MLAs to join its ranks. To get the Raj Thackeray-led party on board for the BMC elections, the BJP is now frantically pursuing MNS," he claimed. He claimed that despite BJP's schemes, Maharashtra's younger people would stick with Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena will continue to have power in BMC, he asserted.
