As the city of Mumbai recorded a rise in Covid 19 cases for two consecutive days, the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) clarified that the increase in cases was due to the rise in daily Covid 19 testing in the city of Mumbai. While communicating with the media Additional Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Suresh Kakani, stated that the city of Mumbai is going to touch 1 percent Covid 19 positivity rate as the cases have begun rising from 300 to 450 daily.
“The positivity rate for Covid 19 in the city of Mumbai, is about to touch the mark of 1 percent as the numbers of infected people have been rising from 300 to 450. We have increased the number of testing from the past. Travel in local trains is only permitted for the people who have been administered with both the doses of the Covid 19 vaccine and the people involved in essential services.
This would be saying something in hurry but we believe that this is the start of Covid 19 third wave, but all the prior preparations have already been done by us. With one lakh beds prepared in four different categories with the oxygen system modified,” stated Suresh Kakani.
The statement that has been released by the City’s Public Health Department, states that Mumbai has recorded 323 fresh cases of Covid 19 with one death. The total number of recovered patients is 272 in the last 24 hours. At the beginning of the last month, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray had announced that the local train services will be allowed for only those passengers who have been administered with both doses of the Covid 19 vaccine.
This development by the government came after opposition and people demanded the resumption of local train services for commuters. Earlier only the people who belong to the essential service category could travel in the local trains. This development became crucial for the State Government to be made as to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 approach.
With the ongoing rift between
Shiv Sena and
BJP, everyone’s finding a way out and conquer the approaching BMC elections. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray further consoling the citizens who have been hit hard by the pandemic, stated that soon the government will take decisions on giving relaxations to shops, malls, restaurants and places of religious worship.
