BJP, in collaboration with Pravasi Takkrar Manch, conducting a signature campaign to reinstate stopped BEST bus routes

The BJP is attempting to win voters in the Shiv Sena-controlled Worli-Sewri constituency and neighbouring areas. On January 23, the party launched a petition drive to reinstate BEST bus lines that had been stopped earlier this year due to route rationalisation.
The BJP, in collaboration with Mumbai's Pravasi Takkrar Manch, held a signature drive outside the NM Joshi Marg police station in Lower Parel on Sunday. On January 24, a table and bench were placed up where people could come and sign the petition, which was then to be forwarded to the BEST administration.
"In total, 900 people signed up for this campaign. Several bus lines in and around Worli, Currey Road, Delisle Road, Arthur Road, and the surrounding neighbourhoods were primarily cancelled by the BEST. This is making it difficult for locals, particularly the middle and lower classes, to commute to Mumbai Central or, say, Nair Hospital. These bus routes should be resumed, according to us "Pravasi Takkrar Manch's Aarti Pugaokar stated.
BJP officials stated that the BST, despite being led by the Shiv Sena, is ignoring the indigenous Marathi people in Worli on purpose. They claimed that because the top Sena leaders, BEST members, and senior party leaders are all from Worli, they should not be overlooked.
There used to be at least six bus lines in this area, but they have now been reduced. BEST leader Sunil Ganacharya stated, "We want the BEST administration to restart." The bus routes 74, 76, 63, 30, 61, and 77 have been reduced as part of the updated BEST route rationalisation, which will be completed in September 2021.
The BJP maintains that these bus routes were extremely beneficial to middle-class and working-class families who needed to commute to jobs and hospitals. The Pravasi Takar Manch also urged that bus frequency be increased to ensure that people have access to effective bus services. The BEST officials believe that it is merely a political battle as if the constituencies and areas are all controlled by the ruling party.
