Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Ashish Shelar has said that the Shiv Sena is plotting to postpone the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, which were scheduled to be held in February 2022 under the guise of the Covid-19 pandemic. He also alleged that the army was quoting the third wave of the coronavirus mainly to postpone the civic body vote. He said the Shiv Sena was planning to postpone the BMC polls under the cover of the Covid-19 situation and that there was a possibility of a third wave of contagion.

The Bandra MLA said the party led by Uddhav Thackeray was trying to get 'shares' from the Rs 20,000 crore tender. It will start with the installation of a new sewage treatment plant. The tender has not been extended yet. This is why Sena Goring is consulting to get an extension to the current governing body, which will receive wounds after the tender. If the Army's demand is to be accepted, we will demand that new tenders not be removed or deleted while the BMC's governing body is being extended.

Shelar claims that the 'cut out' from tenders has been popular at BMC for more than three decades under Sena surveillance. The BJP opposes allowing the extension to the current governing council. He made it clear that all the developments were taking place only in Worli and Kalanagar and kept Chief Minister Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray in hiding. While Aditya Worli is an MLA from the constituency, Bandra's private residence is in the Kalanagar area. IN the 2017 BMC elections, the Sena and the BJP contested separately, winning only two more seats than the first. At that time, the BJP had decided to sit in the Opposition as it shared power with the state army.
