Ajit Pawar of the NCP is under threat from nationwide protests from the BJP for stating that “Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was not Dharmaveer”

In response to Ajit Pawar's claim that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was a "Swaraj Rakshak" and not a "Dharmaveer" because he worked to safeguard Maharashtra's freedom rather than promoting any religion, the BJP is expected to launch a countrywide agitation against him. Eknath Shinde, the Chief Executive of the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena and the state's Chief Minister, has also criticised Pawar, asserting that neither he nor his party bestowed the title of Darmaveer upon Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and calling his remarks repugnant.

We refer to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as Swaraj Rakshak, Pawar remarked on Friday during his right to respond on a last-day resolution in the state legislature. However, others are referring to him as Dharmaveer. In terms of religion, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was not a hero. Never did Sambhaji Maharaj promote any particular faith. Additionally, Hindavi Swarajya was founded by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. But some people named Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Dharmaveer on purpose, he said. I made it clear that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj should be referred to as Swaraj Rakshak even back when I was in the government.

Shinde also made fun of Pawar by stating that "everyone should obtain the appropriate knowledge and be cautious before making any statements." Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj made sacrifices for Swaraj, the nation, and his religion. Despite being subjected to Aurangzeb's tyranny, Sambhaji Maharaj upheld his commitment to his  religion and independence. You (Ajit Pawar) and we haven't given Dharmveer the title " Swaraj has been shielded by Sambhaji Maharaj. As a result, it is inappropriate for individuals like Ajit Pawar to speak in that manner. He ought to talk intelligently, as Ajit Pawar had criticised people who made insulting remarks about great leaders. However, such a claim is repugnant, "he said.
