Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut: Ahead of the BMC elections, BJP raking up the outsider card
In a recent strike on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday expressed his antipathy for the opposition stand on the directives given by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray to keep a check on the records of migrants coming from different states in the state of Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena MP while alleging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated that the party was playing with the ‘outsider’ card ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections to be held next year.

In the weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, published in Sena’s mouthpiece Saamana, he stated that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray never in his statements and directives declared the name of a particular state when he was referring to migrants, “Though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continuously chants that Chief Minister meant North Indians.”

“This method used by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a way of creating clash and cases should be filed against such type of people. The city of Mumbai was home to Bengali, Odiya, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu-speaking people, and not even this, the city’s Matunga and Dharavi areas are dominated by South Indians. They have never called themselves outsiders. stated Shiv Sena MP and Rajya Sabha Member Sanjay Raut, the executive editor of Saamana.

Sanjay Raut, further said that Durga Puja is celebrated by the Bengalis at the same time when Shiv Sena’s Dussehra Rally is conducted in Shivaji Park, but the Bengalis never have this fear and call themselves outsiders. All the festivals are celebrated in the city by the Tamil, Telugu and Muslims with Gujaratis, Marwaris, Jains becoming an essential part of Mumbai’s life. With this, whom does the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) consider as an outsider? The Rajya Sabha Member questioned.

“It is the main work of the state government to maintain the law and order of the state whether the country may be one. Without even having an understanding of what Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was trying to convey, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) scraped up the outsiders and migrant card, the reason being the elections of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the year 2022 and UP elections,” stated the Shiv Sena MP.

Further, in the editorial, the Shiv Sena MP stated that “if the BJP has some sort of love for the outsiders, who are helping the terrorist, atrocities against women and make life miserable for the ‘sons-of-the-soil’, it will not at all be right. People never consider rich people as outsiders, only people who are in search of livelihood are given this term Migrants, which is sad.

Ahead attacking the BJP Chief Chandrakant Patil, Raut stated that “the statement was given by the BJP Chief that ‘why only outsiders were blamed and why not Marathi people, do they not commit a crime’ shows the deep-rooted hatred of the BJP party toward the Marathi people. The answer to the Chief’s question would be that why is the Enforcement Directorate (ED) behind the Shiv Sena and NCP leaders, are the BJP leaders clean?”
