Maharashtra: Shiv Sena slams political tourism as BJP leaders visit flood and landslide-hit areas
After the visit of various opposition leaders in the flood and landslide-affected areas, Shiv Sena on Tuesday stated that “political tourism” should not hamper relief work in flood and landslide-hit regions of Maharashtra. Now Bhagat Singh Koshyari plans to visit Chiplun with BJP leader Ashish Shelar. The Sena mouthpiece Saamana in its editorial stated that such tourism should stop as they hinder in speeding up the relief and rehabilitation work. Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that “It is not right of the opposition to visit such spots and give pressure to the administration.

Anywhere around the globe where such a disaster has taken place, there should not be any obstacle in the relief work. If any such incidents occur in the State of Maharashtra there is a lot of attack on the administration, allegations, counter-allegations, and all the political tours should be stopped as far as possible as this is not a battle for credit, and if someone thinks that it is then there is lack of humanity in them. Politicians should not visit such places as the visit hinders the work.”

The editorial in Saamana stated that if such political visits are not performed by the politicians then the work in these areas can go smoothly. The time Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was sitting in the state secretariat and instruction was given by him to the administration, that time Pravin Darekar, Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council and Former Minister Girish Mahajan tried to reach Mahad but were not able to reach because of the heavy rain and later on they had to be rescued by the authorities. The editorial further said, “After the visit of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, many other opposition leaders visited the Taliye village and now the Maharashtra Governor also plans to go there, as the relief work has not been completed yet all these visits creates chaos.”
