After split with BJP, Shiv Sena corporators fear for their seats

Shiv Sena’s Hemant Doke, a three-time corporator contested the recent Assembly elections from Wadala, a constituency with a sizeable Marathi-speaking voters . He stood third trailing the BJP candidate, who finished second, by 5,650 votes.
In the tussle among the two long term allies, the seat was won by sitting Congress MLA Kalidas Kolambkar, who won by a slim margin of 800 votes.
Hemant’s wife and sitting Shiv Sena Wadala corporator Alka Doke is is concerned about meeting the same fate as her husband’s if the current situation dents the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) too.The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance has ruled the BMC,Asia’s richest municipal corporation for more tha 20 years.
Doke is concerned that if both the parties decide to contest the BMC election independently, the votes will get split between BJP and the Sena, that will help the other party candidates.
