Waste to energy plant inaugurated by Aaditya Thackeray at Haji Ali ahead of BMC Elections
The city of Mumbai’s first waste-to-energy was on Friday inaugurated by Mumbai Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray at Haji Ali that will be generating electrical power from 2.000 kg of waste. Bhoomi Pujan was also conducted for the construction of a viewing deck at Girgaum Chowpatty. The deck is expected to be built on an existing stormwater drain outfall near Chowpatty.
 
As per the plan, the plant which has been constructed from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds will be generating 250-300 units of power each day which will be used by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for all the electrification in the public parks of the Mumbai city. 
 
“A total of 250 to 300 units of electricity would be generated per day. For the first time, the electric power will be used by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the parks and a solid waste segregation centre. The success of this project will result in saving of the cost of electricity of the municipal body as well as all the savings in waste transportation costs,” stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials.
 
Ground-breaking ceremony for the commencement of construction of a 475 square meter viewing deck in Girgaum Chowpatty was also performed by the Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray. The viewing gallery which is being created is being constructed with the tourism point of view. 
 
These developments by the Shiv Sena come at a time when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections which is scheduled to be held in February 2022.
