Even though the BJP held celebrations following Uddhav Thackeray's intention to leave as chief minister, the party has yet to play its cards. Devendra Fadnavis, the head of the opposition, met with Governor BS Koshyari on Wednesday after leading a team that requested him to direct Thackeray to prove the majority in the aftermath of the revolt.

However, the party has not announced its plan, including a bid for government formation. There is still uncertainty about whether the Eknath Shinde camp, which claims the backing of 39 MLAs, would maintain its independent identity or unite with the BJP, MNS, or Prahar JanShakti to form the new coalition required for government formation.

The BJP's core committee is due to meet today to decide on the next steps. After returning from Goa, the Shinde camp may have its meeting and consult with the BJP on future measures. "The BJP and Shinde camp would have to arrange a series of interactive discussions to reach an understanding," a senior BJP leader told the Free Press Journal. Only then will a list of legislators be compiled and submitted to the Governor to stake a claim."

He stated that the Governor will then call the BJP if the Shinde camp joins forces with it or other parties to form the new administration. "After the inauguration, the Governor will request that the new administration demonstrate majority on the floor of the parliament," he continued. He did, however, agree that the BJP would disclose its plan after consulting with the national leadership.
