The issue sparked by Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari declaring Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to be a historical icon is giving the BJP more and more headaches. Mr. Udayanraje Bhosale, a party member and the thirteenth descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, criticised the BJP for not taking action against Koshyari after launching the "Akrosh Morcha" at the Raigad fort on Saturday. He asserted that "those who remain silent are equally guilty of insulting Shivaji."

The governor, according to Mr. Bhosale, who has been harshly critical of him, "Governor Koshyari was never a huge personality." The position of governor is one of honour. We won't put up with Shivaji Maharaj being insulted. In response to Koshyari's insult of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he declared an agitation at the Azad Maidan and called for his immediate dismissal from his current position.

Without specifically mentioning the BJP, Mr. Bhosale criticised the group for its continued quietly on the subject. When it comes to honouring Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, there shouldn't be any disagreement. I want the Governor removed from his position," he declared. He did not, however, state clearly where he stands on the matter or whether he will leave the BJP.

Ironically, some individuals are standing by the Governor and claiming that he didn't mean to say what he did. Those who are covering the Governor to protect him ought to be ashamed of themselves. No one is making a strong case for their position on this issue," according to Mr. Bhosale. As he intensified his criticism of the governor, Mr. Bhosale claimed that he had insulted social reformers Savtribai and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.

Should we remain silent when our national symbols are criticised? The Governor has insulted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj not once, but twice. Sudhanshu Trivedi, a BJP spokesperson, then made a remark that was offensive to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He criticised political parties and said that the next morcha would take place at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Political parties have turned egotistical. Leaders solely consider their interests. Never did Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj yearn for authority. At the moment, everyone seems to be reacting," he said.
