State Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad: Maharashtra Government has no funds for evacuated persons from dangerous buildings in Ulhasnagar
While addressing a program organized by Ulhasnagar Trader Association for residents who were left homeless, State Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad said that the government has no money and is taking loan to pay the salary of the government staff. The statement by Awhad came after Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Leelabai Ashan lately assured that she would bring a fund of 50 crores from the state government for constructing transit camp and paying rent to those who will become homeless from dangerous buildings.

The statement from the State Housing Minister has utterly saddened residents who came with the belief that the minister would try to give some relief to the homeless citizens by the action taken by UMC. “The city of Ulhasnagar where Sindhi’s from Pakistan came to settle has distinct problems and to look into the problems related to regularization of illegal buildings, the state should bring some new law and for the same he would hold meetings with Urban Development Minister and secretaries in next 15 days, but if UMC believes the government will give financial assistance then they should forget about it as the government has no money owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and for the next two years also there is no chance of revenue.

At present the state government pays the salary of government staff by taking loans, I will be speaking to the UMC Commissioner about the same and giving proper notice before evacuating the public from menacing buildings and demolishing it” said Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad.

In response to his statement the BJP corporator Deepak Sirwani who is in charge of holding standing committee chairman post in UMC stated, “The declaration of Home Minister Awhad manifest that Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders have unavailability of understanding as Mayor in her recent address promised us to get financial help of Rs 50 crore from Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde and for further help”
