BMC News Updation
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a notification announcing the final electoral ward reservation. Surprisingly, the BMC has not made a single change to the final draught of electoral ward reservation. The opposition party has condemned the BMC and the entire suggestion and objection process.

Following the Supreme Court's order on May 4, the State Election Commission (SEC) directed the BMC to continue the election process. As a result, on May 30, the BMC held an electoral ward reservation lottery at Rangsharda auditorium in Bandra, with 118 wards reserved for female candidates. There are 15 reserved seats for scheduled castes and 2 reserved seats for scheduled tribes.

Eight seats will be reserved for SC women candidates, and one seat will be reserved for SC men candidates. Following that, BMC received 232 suggestions and objections. BMC published its final draught on Monday, June 13th, with no changes. Sanjog Kabre, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, stated, "No changes have been made in the ward reservation lottery."

Prabhakar Shinde, BJP Corporator and BJP Group Leader in BMC, stated "The BMC has published the ward reservation result, but where is the hearing process? Why did you (BMC) call suggestions and objections if you don't want to consider public suggestions?"

Furthermore, Ravi Raja, the BMC's opposition leader and a Congress corporator, stated "What is the difference between suggestions and objections? They should have gone over the suggestions and objections and should have given a hearing. The BMC administration should have at least written down their response to citizens' suggestions and objections." "We will take the ward reservation to court in a few days," he added.

On June 10, DMC Sanjog Kabre stated that the State Election Commission's guidelines were followed. Every Municipal Commissioner in the state will be required to investigate suggestions and objections on his or her level. As a result, we are reviewing each suggestion and objection and issuing a decision. It will be published on Monday after the Commissioner's approval."
